firstlight is a theatre company dedicated to bringing stories from silence.

We make work that listens carefully to what has been forgotten, withheld, or left unspoken — in families, in communities, and in history. Our productions are shaped by questions of memory, inheritance, moral responsibility, and the quiet forces that pass between generations.

Much of our work engages with European history, particularly Poland and its twentieth-century ruptures: war, occupation, exile, and survival. We approach the past through lived experience — through intimate human stories, ethical dilemmas, and the fragile space where private lives meet public events.

firstlight works across borders — linguistic, cultural, and emotional. We collaborate with artists, venues, and institutions in the UK and Poland, and we are committed to making work that can travel: between countries, between generations, and between silence and speech.

At its heart, firstlight exists to hold stories carefully — and to offer them, quietly and honestly, into the light.
